Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a 36-year-old Panacea man Monday, Aug. 1 in connection with the service of a search warrant at a Panacea tattoo studio, according to Sheriff David Harvey.
David Howard King faces charges of possession of prescription pills with intent to sell, distribution of Schedule III prescription pills and trafficking in more than four grams. King was also charged with grand theft of livestock and cruelty to animals in connection with shooting a pot bellied pig named “Spam,” a 12-year-old family pet that wandered onto his property.
The WCSO Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover purchase of prescription pills involving King. A search warrant was served at the Apocalyptic Tattoo Studio in Panacea on Aug. 1. No pills were discovered in the establishment at the time of the service of the search warrant. However, a handgun and shotgun were seized from the location. A bag of yellow powder is currently being tested for controlled substances.
In addition, on July 28, the pot bellied pig was being cared for by a friend of the owner who reported hearing a firearm blast. Later, the owner discovered that King had shot the animal, dressed it out and consumed part of the pet.
During the service of the search warrant, King admitted to shooting the pig and six plastic bags of pork parts were recovered from a freezer at the studio. The .32 caliber handgun used to shoot “Spam” was recovered. The pig was valued at 0.
King was transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident. He is being held under a 0,000 bond.

Panacea, Florida – August 2, 2011 by Jerry Askin
Jeff Huff can now only share memories of his pet pig named "Spam." He’s raised Spam for the past 12 years.
"Most people, even the kids around here knew that I had a pet pig named Spam. Some of them would come up and I would let them feed candy to him," says Huff.
Huff was out of town last week when a neighbor called and told him that his pet pig had been shot after he wandered away from Huff’s home.
Deputies say 36-year old David King shot the pig when it wandered outside his tattoo parlor. Then they say he cleaned it and ate it.
"I can’t eat my animal like that. I can’t stand to think that someone killed it, and they were going to eat it at my expense," says Huff.
On Monday (8-1), deputies served a search warrant to the Apocalyptic tattoo parlor in Panacea. That’s where they conducted an undercover purchase of prescription pills by King. They say no pills were discovered inside at the time of the purchase. But King has been charged with distributing prescription pills and trafficking of more than four grams.
We did stop by the tattoo parlor to get reaction from workers there, no one wanted to speak with us on camera. As for King, he’s being held at the Wakulla County Jail on a bond of 0,000.
King is also facing animal cruelty charges for what he did to Huff’s pig.
